Featuring AN INVISIBLE SUN & THE INFECTED TRILOGY, plus 11 newly added shows, 13 recently updated shows, and 2 shows returning with new seasons this week!
When I started The End, it was to fill what I saw as a hole in the fiction podcast discovery space: a listener-focused directory filled only with finished audio fiction. It's taken a village to get us to nearly 1,500 shows that have reached either a season finale or the series finale, and I'm grateful to the creators, the fans, and Allie (hi, Allie!) who helped get us there. But we can do more. Specifically, we can answer a related question, one I see asked by listeners over and over againâIs this show finished? Our directory answers that question only in the affirmative form of pass/fail. If the show was listed in our directory, it's reached a conclusion. Perhaps not the final conclusion, but a conclusion like a season finale that makes it ripe for binge-listening. But if the show wasn't listed, IÂ couldn't say it wasn't bingeable. In most cases, it simply meant the show hadn't been submitted to us.
Time to change that!
Because we've improved our processes greatly, our search results pages now tell you when a show is in progress toward its first season finale, according to our research. And if we have great confidence, we'll let you know when the show will reach a finale. Even betterâwe're monitoring those shows to get them added to our directory as soon as that final episode drops! Creators are still encouraged to submit their shows to us, as we provide much more information than is available in a show's RSS feed. That's why you'll now see a "claim this show"Â button on all shows submitted by fans or our own processes.
However, we want to be true to our stated mission, so in-progress shows will have an informational listing only, and you won't see them added to these weekly updates. Well, not until they do hit the season finale. Then they'll be listed!
This is a work in progress. There are between 10,000 and 60,000 fiction podcasts, audio dramas, audiobooks, or other forms of audio fiction available now. We've only scratched the surface of the backlog, and multiple creators start releasing new shows daily. It's a very big liftâif not a reachâbut we're doing our best to make The End an even more valuable resource for fiction podcast listeners.
Thanks for being a part of our journey. And an even bigger thanks to the listeners, creators, and organizations who have coughed up a couple bucks (or more) to help us keep the train going. If you haven't yet, please consider supporting The End today so we can keep on keepin' on.
Let's get into it, shall we?
